Yemen: Latest Setting For A Middle East Proxy War

Discord in Yemen threatens neighboring powerhouse and U.S. ally Saudi Arabia. With the Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen backed by Iran, Yemen is the latest flashpoint in a growing proxy war, with a Sunni power on one side, and the world’s biggest Shiite population on the other. Yemeni President Abdel Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Saturday called the Shiite rebels who forced him to flee the country “stooges of Iran.” He urged Saudi Arabia and its allies to continue air strikes on the rebels.
