The Free Syrian Army in Aleppo is so desperate for weaponry, its members created a homemade war wagon. Bolting scrap metal to a pickup truck, these DIY armorers added a .50-caliber machine gun to their ersatz turret and hooked it up to a Sony PlayStation controller. The result is an ingenuous, little fighting vehicle that’s giving both ISIS and the Assad regime a powerful punch.

Vocativ saw a demo of this improvised tank created and driven by the FSA’s Jaish al-Mujahideen brigade—a test drive like none other.
