Trump-Gingrich Would Be Oldest Ticket In History

As Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump vets potential running mates in Indiana in the run-up to Friday’s big announcement, one apparent finalist would, if selected, be truly historical.

First, as every hacky pundit has pointed out, if Newt Gingrich is selected as Trump’s Vice President, this ticket would boast the most ex-wives of any ticket in US history (four exes and two current wives! Six wives! That’s so many wives!). But, perhaps more relevant: if 70-year-old Donald Trump were to pick 73-year-old Newt Gingrich to run alongside him, they’d be the oldest presidential ticket in history.

His Democratic rival Hillary Clinton’s veepstakes is making its own kind of history. Many have speculated that Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren is among the finalists. If selected, Clinton-Warren would be the first all-female major party ticket. They’d also be, like Trump-Gingrich, among the oldest tickets ever.
