Cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C. reached peak bloom on Friday—about a week earlier than average.

Stunning Instagram images inevitably followed.

Vocativ used our technology to curate some of the best geo-tagged Instagram pictures of the famous cherry trees that Japan gifted to the nation’s capital in 1912. Don’t expect many photos taken from above: The Federal Aviation Administration warned visitors that flying any type of drone is prohibited in D.C. and its surrounding areas.
