Welcome to the third episode of Junk Science, Vocativ’s video series dedicated to debunking the crappy research cluttering your newsfeed. This week, we debunk the notion that gay parents are guilty of screwing up their kids. The fact is, same-sex parents make for perfectly capable caregivers and they’re no better or worse than heterosexual parents when it comes to raising children. This point has been confirmed by every major psychiatric and pediatric organization in the U.S., yet it continues to stir up conservative pundits even after gay marriage became legal nationwide in June. Check out the video below to find out why the theory doesn’t hold water, and send any science questions you want answered my way at facebook.com/joshuakrisch.
