Marvel’s Kamala Khan Is Fighting Anti-Islam Bus Ads In San Francisco

Jan 27, 2015 at 11:27 AM ET

Muni riders in San Francisco were outraged when ads comparing Muslims to Nazis began appearing earlier this month on the side of public buses. The ads show Adolf Hitler talking with Palestinian Muslim leader Haj Amin al-Husseini, and are emblazoned with the words: “Islamic Jew-hatred: It’s in the Quran.”

Paid for by far-right hate group American Freedom Defense Initiative, the ads also, funnily enough, plead with onlookers to help “stop the hate.”

Well, Bay Area Art Queers Unleashing Power and Street Cred decided to do just that. They’ve transformed the ads by covering them with stickers of Marvel’s Muslim superhero, Kamala Khan, and are “calling all bigotry busters” to send love to Islamic countries.

More ads can be seen on Street Cred’s Facebook page.
