ISIS supporters are celebrating the ramming and stabbing attack in central London that killed eight people and injured scores more on Saturday, saying that the incident was revenge for the U.S-led campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

“You bomb us in Mosul and we attack in London,” said an ISIS supporter on the messaging app Telegram, referring to the terror group’s embattled bastion in Iraq.

“London is living in horror. Where is your security? Where is your intelligence?” the post taunted.

The attack was carried out by three unidentified suspects who around 10:00 pm London time, mowed a van into a crowd of pedestrians on London Bridge before leaving the vehicle and stabbing dozens of people in the nearby Borough Market. The three assailants were shot dead by police within eight minutes.

No organization has taken responsibility for the attack, but it was reminiscent of an earlier spate of vehicular attacks, including a deadly attack on Westminster Bridge in March.

On Saturday, pro-ISIS channels on Telegram published a call for lone-wolf style truck attacks on Westerners during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Following the attack, dozens of posts in ISIS channels on Telegram praised “the lone wolves who are taking revenge inside Britain for the Muslims in Iraq and Syria.”

Nashir Agency, the biggest ISIS Telegram group that disseminates the group’s propaganda, called upon supporters to target “the disbelievers” and “attack them in their houses, roads, commercial centers, and clubs, and from anywhere where they wouldn’t expect you.”

The U.S-led, UK-backed campaign to push ISIS militants from their strongholds in Syria and Iraq has led to a growing number of civilian casualties.

“As you burn our children, be sure that we will set the land under your feet on fire. We took revenge in Belgium, France, and Germany, and now we are in London,” wrote Abu Muhanad al-Assad, a member of the forum.

“Kill them and don’t provide mercy to anybody, including any youth or elder, child or woman. Kill them same as they kill our children,” he added.

Layth al-Bawadi, another member of the forum, threatened “more [attacks]. The next will be worse and more bitter.”
