An Octopus Inspired This Robot

A new robotic arm, developed by a German company, is the latest piece of technology to be inspired by an animal. It’s called an OctopusGripper and its design is an octopus tentacle. It has a soft silicone covering and it uses compressed air to bend inward. The tentacle is fitted with both small and large suction cups, allowing it to grip a variety of objects. Festo, the German robotics company that developed the arm, says the soft structure of the OctopusGripper makes it ideal for use in collaborative working spaces.
