The “world’s first laser-based desktop holographic display” is a hit on Kickstarter. Holovect, which is short for Holographic Vector Graphics Display, surpassed its funding goal of $45,000. The display system computer controls and focuses a laser, which forms 3D designs suspended in midair. The “vects,” as its creator calls them, are viewable from multiple angles, and no goofy glasses are required. What is required is about $800 – that’s the price to get one through Kickstarter.
