Separating conjoined twins is one of the more challenging and risky operations doctors perform. Thanks to 3D-printing, doctors who operated on one set of conjoined twins got a sense of what they were up against before they even started the operation.

Scarlett and Savannah were born joined at the heart, diaphragm, sternum, and liver. After some 3D-printing wizardry and 10 surgeries at the University of Florida Health, they were separated successfully.
