Space contains innumerable enormous balls of near-perpetually-renewing fire, but we didn’t start any of those. When it comes to man-made space fires, we’ve kept it pretty small. In fact, the new world-record man made space fire was set to an object that measured only 16 by 37 inches.

Set in mid-June by NASA researchers, the Saffire-I experiment aimed to test how fire burns in a microgravity environment. The vessel containing the experiment returned to earth on June 22.
