The Bigelow Expandable Activity Module, or BEAM, is in its testing phase. And that’s very exciting for the future of space travel.

The inflatable module is lighter and easier to transport to space than the clunkier inhabitable space capsules we’re currently using. If two years of testing prove successful, the technology may one day be used to construct a space hotel or space colony.
