The Biggest Paris Fashion Week Fans Are In Cairo
Of the one million Facebook users who follow the topic of Paris Fashion Week, 18 percent are from Cairo.
Paris may be hailed as one of the fashion capitals of the world, but the Paris of the Nile is where you’ll find some of fashion’s most die-hard fans.
Of the one million Facebook users who follow the topic of Paris Fashion Week, 18 percent are from Cairo, Egypt, according to an analysis by Vocativ. Bangkok comes in second at 9 percent, followed by New Delhi, which make up 4 percent of the Facebook engagement.
Men make up around 27 percent of this global fan base, a rate that amounts to about 300,000 Facebook users. Cairo is home to about 17 percent of these male fans, whose gazes are no doubt on Paris’ runways as fashion week kicks off on Tuesday. Seoul and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia make up 7 percent and 6 percent of the male fan base, respectively.
Vocativ’s deep web analysis revealed that Italian-Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello created the most-talked about summer/spring collection of PFW’s first day. The show featured models in audacious high slits and flowing fabrics.
At least two Indian designers will show off their collections at this year’s event. Manish Arora is scheduled to appear later this week, and Rahul Mishra will be wowing fans with a collection that promises “traditional handmade artisanship with 3-D technology.”
