Amidst the chaos erupting nightly this week in Ferguson, Missouri, a charity called the St. Louis Police Wives Association published a post on its Facebook page soliciting emotional support, cash donations and foodstuffs for the guys armed to the teeth and firing tear gas into the crowds. Some may be inclined to call the post tone-deaf.

“Our local St. Louis police have been working extremely hard to held [sic] keep our streets safe and as quite [sic] as possible since the unfortunate shooting a little over a week ago,” the post begins. “It doesn’t matter which side of the fence you sit on in this situation our officers (who aren’t ALL bad people, and who are dong [sic] a job that has placed them in some dangerous situations lately) are being overworked and are in need of support, prayers, and engorgement [sic].”

So what, exactly, do local cops need? Here’s a “wish list” of items, which includes items like water, Gatorade, sunflower seeds, trail mix and Red Bull. To view the entire list, click “see more.”

Apparently, the cops in St. Louis County are a bit picky. According to one commenter, the police are “thankful” for the food, but have asked that donors “take it easy on the sweets and send more protein.”
