Amazon’s Alexa can quickly deliver updates on the news or the weather, but did you know she could also give you a sneak peek of Lady Gaga’s new album, Joanne?  All you had to do is ask, it turns out. That’s what some lucky Amazon Echo owners discovered when the service leaked snippets of the songs that were supposed to be under embargo. Oops!

Amazon normally allows users to play previews of songs that are available for pre-order, but for Lady Gaga’s big comeback effort they were supposed to be on lockdown until the album actually came out. However, according to the BBC, some smart cookies discovered that getting early access was as easy as telling Alexa to “Play Joanne by Lady Gaga.”

It only worked for Echo users in the US, but several of them were kind enough to share with the world by posting videos of the clips online — though they’ve since been removed. Amazon didn’t want to comment on the glitch to the BBC, but whatever it was has been taken care of since the trick no longer works.

Joanne officially comes out on October 21st, so you won’t have to wait too long to hear the whole shebang. But if nothing else this should be a lesson to Echo owners everywhere: try asking Alexa for whatever your heart desires and you just might get it.
