Police Arrest Mississippi Man Suspected Of Killing Eight
Cory Godbolt was taken into custody after reportedly embarking on a shooting spree that killed a deputy sheriff and seven others
Police in Lincoln County, Mississippi arrested a man on Sunday morning suspected of killing a local deputy sheriff as well as seven others in an overnight shooting spree that occurred at three separate homes.
The suspect, named as the 35-year-old Cory Godbolt, was interviewed at the scene of his arrest by the local newspaper, Clarion-Ledger.
Godbolt told reporters that he carried out the shooting out of love for his wife and children and that his intention was to commit “suicide by cop.”
The deputy’s name and the names of the other victims have not yet been released.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain said that police were currently gathering information at all three locations.
