Want to dive with sharks, but afraid you’ll disrupt their habitat? Fear not! New research says the water’s fine.

Studies have shown that sharks commonly swim away from human divers, so researchers believed that divers might be permanently disrupting their habitats. They sent divers to a remote reef in the Pacific Ocean, where fishing was not allowed. This allowed them to isolate the divers’ effect on shark habitats. Turns out that after the divers left, the sharks returned home without any hesitation. So go ahead and jump on in.
