Feb 08, 2017 at 7:00 AM ET

A fireball was spotted early Monday morning from parts of Illinois and Wisconsin.

NASA said the fireball’s explosion was roughly equivalent to 10 tons of TNT. It broke up over Lake Michigan, moving at 38,000 mph. The meteor likely weighed at least 600 pounds and had a minimum width of two feet.
