Amazon’s warehouses are now swarming with 45,000 robots. That’s a 300 percent increase from 2014, when the company had just 15,000. In 2012, Amazon bought Boston-based robotics company Kiva Systems in 2012 for $775 million. They created the orange bots that zoom around the warehouse floors. Amazon also uses automation like robotic arms to lift heavy pallets. The company’s focus on automation isn’t just in its warehouses, they opened a store with no cashiers in Seattle and recently made an automated drone delivery in the U.K.
