Just days after the GOP’s draft platform declared pornography a “public health crisis,” xHamster has hit back by revealing red states’ X-rated viewing habits. Turns out “cuckold” and “mature” porn are the leading categories among viewers in conservative states.

“Porn is anything but a public health crisis,” said xHamster spokesperson Alex Hawkins in a press release. “We wanted to release this data to show the hypocrisy of the Republican Party when they are obviously viewing plenty of material on xHamster.”

On Monday, the GOP added a provision to the draft party platform stating, “The internet must not become a safe haven for predators. Pornography, with its harmful effects, especially on children, has become a public health crisis that is destroying the life of millions.” It followed Utah’s Republican governor signing a resolution calling porn a “public health hazard.”

More The United States Of Porn: A State-By-State Guide

xHamster hasn’t released actual viewership numbers, but it has revealed the top-three categories in each red state. The overall reigning genres are “cuckold,” which is a leading category in all but five of the states, and “mature,” which ranks in all but seven. Amateur porn is a hit in nine of the states: Idaho, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. Then there’s “creampie” and “anal,” which each show up in a couple states.

Some categories seem particularly politically relevant. “Ebony” or “interracial” rank in several states in the Deep South: Arkansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, as well as Texas. (Alabama is curiously omitted from xHamster’s data.) In Wyoming and Nebraska, two states that attempted to ban same-sex marriage, they really like “lesbians”—at least in their porn.

Of course, in using viewing habits to attack GOP policies, it might only fuel the sense of internet porn as a “crisis” and “hazard.” There’s also the potential of shaming people in red states for their particular sexual predilections, when, really, all states have their turn-ons. Earlier this year, Vocativ reported on Pornhub’s state-by-state viewership stats and found that “lesbian” porn was the most popular genre across the country, irrespective of politics. Both Rebublican and Democratic states had a taste for taboo genres like “step mom” and “step sister.”

See, we’re all of us—red or blue—a United States of pervs behind our computers.
