A tally of ads during the college football playoff final reveals the answer

Major college sports—college football in particular—is an enormously profitable enterprise that uses unpaid laborers, namely the athletes on the field. One of the more obvious means of generating said profit is selling advertising to brands. In the case of college sports, exactly none of the money being generated is ending up in the pockets of the players, who are the only reason why anyone is watching in the first place. I mean, maybe you’d tune in to watch Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney make faces at each other from across the sidelines, but I believe in you and your taste level.
